Sunday, Apr 19, 2026
On an island in the Salish Sea, hanging out with four-legged companions while worming through books, you'll find Jeanne Dodds, ABSF's new Administrative Director. Jeanne's professional background centers interdisciplinary professional and academic practice in arts and sciences, including several decades as an entrepreneur and educator. She's taught in schools, museums and non-profits around the Pacific Northwest, the Southwest, and in international locations.
Her experience as a researcher in locations such as Rwanda, Malaysia and Costa Rica includes field work searching for nocturnal venomous snakes and the delivery of invited talks, conference papers, and workshops for universities and professional organizations. As a researcher, Jeanne's current practice-led PhD research at Falmouth University, UK responds to climate change and biodiversity loss through place-making. Previously she directed national arts activism and habitat restoration programs for biodiversity conservation, was an environmental justice report lead author, and taught ecological-arts programming from a decarceral perspective to individuals in six prisons. Jeanne is trained as a fine art photographer, a scientific illustrator and a researcher, previously earning a Masters in Environmental Studies with a thesis on wildlife trafficking interventions. As a life-long book lover with passionate interest in book arts, natural science ephemera, and early writing systems, she is delighted to join the ABSF community.
